Clothing

Every stitch of clothing is of the F&I War to the War of 1812. Our hunting frocks are black and red fringe marking our unit's boots and shoes are that of anyone mounted during this time period.

Head Covers

Hats consist of long hunters, top hats with ostrich plums and straw hats. All hats have a cockade with the mounted rangers insignia.

Pants

Typical drop front pants usually of period correct materials.

Weapons

Handguns: Firearms are all flintlocks ranging from French and English Dragoon pistols to the 1803 Harper's Ferry.

Long guns: Most are 1795 Charlevilles cut down for horsemen. Almost any type of flintlock of the day was used and smoothbores to allow the use of shot.

Edged Weapons: There are many varieties of swords from 1795. Light Calvary sabers to broadswords would have been whatever one could muster at the time.

Tack

Saddles are the most difficult but the most period correct would be the Buena Vista models or plantation saddles all in black or dark brown. Headstalls and so forth as the saddles varied. Most had breast collars as well.

Horses

Many units would designate a color of horse but in the civilian sector, it was whatever you rode in on.

Tent Age

Long hunter's tents as well as 1770 bell back tents were all used.

Cooking / Eating Utensils

Wood, pewter for the rich and iron or wooden forks and spoons.
